Harbinger

Harbinger is a performance project led by choreographer Ame Henderson. Working with a cast of femme performers, Henderson considers foundational dance techniques of lifting, carrying, and weight-sharing as manifestations of care and empathy and as forms of feminized labor.

For Harbinger, we produced a scent for the theater space that was diffused from underneath selected audience seats. Following Henderson’s conceptual framework, we chose materials associated with the “feminine” fragrance category, blending clashing combinations to produce new associations.
